The Office of National Security (ONS) has embarked on a nationwide sensitization tour to engage communities on The Gambia’s ongoing Security Sector Reform (SSR). The tour, which began on Monday in Kerewan, North Bank Region, is part of efforts to implement the ONS Communication Strategy aimed at fostering public awareness and participation in the reform process.
At the Governor’s residence in Kerewan, a diverse group of participants gathered for an open and interactive discussion on the SSR, emphasizing the need for partnership and collaboration to ensure a successful outcome. Officials from the ONS provided insights into the reform agenda, addressing key concerns and expectations from the public.
The eight-day tour, supported by the UNDP Gambia Country Office, will cover various regions, bringing the SSR conversation closer to communities across the country. As a key partner in The Gambia’s security sector transformation, the UNDP’s involvement underscores the importance of inclusive dialogue in shaping a more accountable and effective security framework.
The sensitization tour aligns with the government’s commitment to transparency and public engagement in the SSR process, reinforcing the role of citizens in contributing to sustainable security reforms.
