National Security Vetting
In the future, all employees in critical or sensitive positions across government will be subjected to security vetting. The ONS is currently overseeing a research and development project which will establish a national vetting process. The vetting will greatly assist in the process of reform and will help reassure the integrity in the security community, and assist in building trust in its people. National Security Vetting is commonplace around the world and is therefore considered as a practice of good governance.

1. What is National Security Vetting? – a process of deep research, analysis and assessment into an individuals background and there way of life; to ensure that the individual being Vetted is suitable to hold a position that requires access to sensitive information, classified assets or a position of influence in government.
2. Who will be a subject of Vetting? – all government personnel as well as certain contractors will be subjected to National Security Vetting.
3. Why is Vetting necessary in The Gambia? – it assists in building trust, integrity, professionalism and countering corruption across government.
